Wooden Tree Warning Signs That Belong in the Landscape
Outdoor safety signage usually looks like an afterthought: a plastic board screwed to a post, faded after one season. Wooden warning signs offer a different approach. Hung from a branch or mounted on a stake, they carry a clear message while blending into the natural surroundings of orchards, parks, botanical gardens, campsites and resort grounds.
Our wooden sign blanks are cut, sanded and laser engraved for crisp, permanent lettering. Because the message is engraved into the wood rather than printed on top of it, it does not peel, blister or wash away. That makes these signs suitable for long-term outdoor use when paired with the right finish and mounting method.
Messages these signs are made for
- Do not climb / do not pick fruit / do not enter
- Fresh paint, treated area, pesticide notice
- Private property, reserved area, staff only
- Tree species and planting information
- Trail direction, plot numbers and orchard row markers
Built for outdoor conditions
| Requirement | Our approach |
|---|
| Rain and humidity | Exterior-grade clear coat or wood stain on all faces and edges |
| Sun exposure | UV-stable coating; engraving stays legible without ink |
| Wind and movement | Pre-drilled holes, stainless screws or galvanized hanging wire |
| Long service life | Thicker blanks and sealed end grain for exposed positions |
| Public safety wording | High-contrast engraving, optional painted fill in white or yellow |
Design choices that improve readability
For a sign read at two to five meters, we recommend a minimum character height of 20 mm, a border line to frame the text, and no more than three short lines. Warning symbols such as a crossed-out hand or a "no entry" mark can be engraved beside the wording. For bilingual sites, two-line layouts in different character heights keep both languages readable without enlarging the board.
Mounting options
Signs can be supplied with a top hole for hanging from a branch or hook, two side holes for wire mounting, or a separate wooden stake for ground placement. Stainless fixings are recommended for coastal or high-humidity locations. For orchards, we can produce numbered row markers in the same style as the warning signs so that the whole site shares one visual language.
Ordering for parks, farms and resorts
Outdoor projects usually need a consistent set rather than a single sign. We can produce mixed wording in one production run, keep sizes and finishes uniform, and pack signs by zone or row for easier installation. Share your site plan and required messages, and we will return a layout sheet showing wording, size and mounting point for each sign before production begins.
